Monitoring for wildings

The Wilding Pine Network is seeking a national coordinator to join our group. The Wilding Pine Network (WPN) provides advice and advocacy on the serious issue of wilding pine spread. The coordinator plays a central role in connecting stakeholders, government agencies, and community groups. The WPN provides:

  • Dynamic and supportive working environment
  • Flexible working hours and location
  • Ability to play a key role in advising the management of wilding pine spread

Coordinator Role

The national coordinator plays a central role in connecting the WPN with its members and stakeholders. You will get to work with passionate people across the country to raise awareness of wilding pines and provide support to community groups and iwi. You will also work across government agencies and Crown Research Institutes to share information about best practice in controlling wilding pines as well as the latest science. This year you’ll support the organisation and delivery of our annual wilding pines conference.

The successful candidate will have the following:

·      Excellent communication skills

·      Strong organisation skills and experience, including with organising workshops and events

·      Experience in managing finances, including budgeting and creating financial reports

·      Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders

·      Familiarity with digital tools such as Office 365 and Zoom

 

Skills and experience in the following would be an advantage:

·      Knowledge of wilding pines and their impacts

·      Experience with social media engagement

·      Project management experience

·      Experience with advocacy

We would prefer to hire an independent contractor to fill this role and are flexible on the location of the role. The role will be approximately 30 hours/ week.
