An interesting opportunity to build knowledge on restoring our natural environments is on the horizon. Dr Adam Forbes who has done considerable work in this field has designed a course around assisted natural regeneration or ANR to help people understand what it takes to restore native forests. It’s a 2-day course with the first day learning the basics of ecology (natives and exotics), how to choose what to plant where and how to monitor forest restoration outcomes.
The second day takes these concepts into the field, visiting local sites where participants will assess regeneration potential, identify barriers, and explore management strategies.
The course will be offered around New Zealand dependent on level of interest. For more information visit Adam’s website https://www.forbesecology.co.nz/restoration/.
